The Computational Molecular Evolution Team is interested in understanding the evolution of organisms at the population and molecular levels. The team also develops models, methods and frameworks for the evolutionary analysis of genetic data.
Our areas of research mainly involve population genetics and evolution.
Evolutionary analysis of real data
Evolutionary analysis of genetic data from virus, cancer and humans (among others)
Genetic diversity and genetic differentiation
Selection among alternative evolutionary scenarios
Estimation of evolutionary parameters (substitution, recombination, selection, etc)
Phylogenetic inference and ancestral sequence reconstruction
Design, development and implementation of models and methods for the evolutionary analysis of genetic data
Novel substitution models of evolution
Methods and frameworks for the simulation of genetic data under complex evolutionary scenarios
Methods and frameworks for the evolutionary analysis of genetic data, especially based on approximate Bayesian computation
